Death Teaches Us…

No one expects to wake up to the news of death, and yet, this world is faced with it time and time again. With an overconsumption of technology, we are constantly being fed by society. And like clockwork, tragedy ensues.DSC_0305
Because the simple, hard fact is that life is fleeting. You never know when your time is up. We focus so much on this world, walking around like we’ve got so much time. And yet, we often fail to realize that our time on earth is borrowed. Each day that we are given is another blessing we are granted with.

Death is a hard truth, but it teaches us a whole lot when it comes around to grab yet another life. It shows us how important it is to chase after the things that inspire us and make us excited. But most importantly, it shows us how important our relationships with our loved ones are.

Someone close to me once told me, “You might be alive, but are you living?” It was such a simple truth, but it packed such a powerful punch. It made me want to cherish each moment and go after my passions and aspirations in life. But it also made me want to be better for my family and friends. It made me want to be that vessel to encourage others to have faith in God even when everything looks bad.

But I’ve realized that I can’t strengthen others unless I strengthen myself. And the only way that I can do that is by strengthening my relationship with God. God is the key. He is the answer for all of life’s problems. He is the reason I can look at tragedy and still find a light in the darkness. It is because of Him that I have been able to walk even when I feel like I am tied up with the heaviest of chains.

I am a Christian, and I believe in the saving grace of God, but I’m not always smiling and full of happiness. And yet, there’s joy down deep in my soul because I know that this world is temporary…

…but eternity is everlasting.
