My hubby requested this dish the other day, so I figured I would add this to my list of tried and true recipes. I created this dish years back after combining several different recipes, and it has become a go-to meal for me.
This recipe is simple to make, and it doesn’t require too many ingredients. I hope your family enjoys it as much as mine does.
- roughly 1 pound of chicken tenderloins
- 1 egg
- 4 pieces of bread
- cooking spray
- 16 oz jar of pasta sauce
- 2 bags of cheese (I used a bag of parmesan, romano and asiago cheeses & a bag of mozzarella)
Step 1: Take four pieces of bread & toast them in the toaster for a couple minutes. Then, crumble the bread on a greased baking sheet to create chunky bread crumbs. This is what truly gives this recipe a distinctive flavor. Put the bread crumbs in the oven on a low broil until they are golden brown.
Step 2: Season the chicken tenderloins with salt and pepper. Then, dip them into a beated egg and the bread crumbs. Cook the tenderloins in an oiled skillet until they are golden brown on both sides.
Step 3: Once the chicken is browned, put a light layer of pasta sauce in a greased baking dish. Then, add half of the chicken, place half of the remainder of the pasta sauce on the chicken and top with cheese until pretty much all of the pasta sauce is covered.
Step 4: Repeat the same process, using up the remainder of the pasta sauce. Then, spray the top of the chicken parmesan bake with cooking spray.
Step 5: Cook in the oven at 350 degrees for 25-30 mins or until the cheese is completely melted and the pasta sauce bubbles on the sides.
Step 6: Enjoy with pasta noodles or whatever else you desire!
