You Can’t Have My Power

The devil wants all of your power. He creeps around like a slithering snake, ready to bite at your heels so you’ll get knocked down a peg. And the more he strikes, the easier it is to give in. The easier it is to believe that all you have are the lies he’s fed you.

In my case, I feel like I’m crawling to the finish line. But you know what just popped into my mind as I’m writing this? My husband shared this Paralympics clip where this man with no arms astonished with his winning backstroke, leaving everyone with arms far behind.

He chose not to let his disability define him. If anything, his disability is a confidence booster for others that obstacles in life won’t define you unless you let them. But imagine if things were flipped. If he let those naysayers that I’m sure he had convince him that he shouldn’t even bother trying.

God has put so much in every one of us, but believing that what we possess can annihilate anything the enemy throws our way sounds like a far-off dream when it’s actually our reality.

Obedience is all you need to get started. Obedience is saying, “God, I’m scared, troubled and fearful. I don’t know what you have in the works. But I trust you, so please help me when I struggle to believe.”

And as God is working, we must keep fighting. We must tell the devil to flee in Jesus’ name any time he tries to steal our power.

Because the devil will try to crush you, but God will always restore you.

“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
