What If He Wanted This

I’ve been going to church practically all my life. When I was younger, it was something I did because my parents made me, but as I got older, I found value in going. There’s nothing like being in the presence of God with likeminded people who are also striving to get closer to Jesus.

But then Covid-19 hit, and the state of churches all over the globe were changed forever. While some churches have started in-person operations again, there are many that are only functioning virtually. And those that are in person have to constantly take the ongoing pandemic into consideration.

Elevation Worship recently released a song titled, “Come Again.” There’s a part in the song that says, “it’s not a building you wanna fill it’s my heart this empty space is what you wanted all along.”

Those lyrics struck my heart. I don’t know about you, but I was constantly on the go before this pandemic. Until…

God slowed me down.

My family had firsthand experience with the virus, and it felt like there was an emptiness in our lives that needed to be filled. Even now, the hole isn’t completely mended. But I can feel God filling that hole and occupying a larger space in my heart.

And it’s only because I was willing to be open. In the brokenness, I knew there was only one being who could make me feel whole again.
