Seasons Change: You Can Always Start Over

As I walked towards the metro station, with the crisp air biting my feet, I began to think about my life. “I’m not where I want to be. I’m not doing what I intended on doing. I’m not going where I wanted to go,” I began to think.

Our lives are masked by what we want to accomplish in them. The occupation we hold, the relationships we have, the hobbies we maintain — these and many alike make up the elements of ourselves.

Though, what happens when those elements are all wrong? What happens when you look around a crowded, noisy metro station, but all you can hear is you? Your thoughts are screaming that you aren’t where you want to be.

You smile, but on the inside, you’re broken. You put on this facade. You tell yourself you’re alright and you’ll make it, but you’re lost in the sea of life.

Every day is the start of a new chapter. You might be hurting, but seasons change.

fall

Take fall, for instance. It doesn’t know whether to be hot or cold — wet or dry. One week of rain warns you to buy new work shoes for the shivering weather ahead, but all of a sudden, there are swift moving trees beneath the wind with roughly 70 degrees.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to complain about the nice weather after a week masked by dreariness, but it would be helpful to not want to wear my tights half way on and off, I suppose.

Though, this weather reminds me of life itself. There are sunny days and dreary days. The leaves ignite with beautiful autumnal colors to only be swift changing into blustery storms.

Life is a series of ups and downs filled with the good and the bad. One day I want to wear a brightly colored cardigan with tall brown boots while dancing in the leaves and drinking hot cider. While others, the rain boots are out and the grins are low.

Perhaps, what makes the not so good days worthwhile is knowing that a bright one is just around the corner.
