As the seasons come and go, our lives begin to shift ever so slightly — whether it’s what we put on our bodies or the foods we eat (I’m so sad to say goodbye to Trader Joe’s ready ripe fruit crates). There’s no secret that the summer is my favorite season, but that’s not to say that fall is without any highs.
And now that fall is here and my big closet clear out is done, I wanted to add a few extra touches to spruce up my living space.
I thought I’d share these minor changes to give you some ideas for turning an uninspiring room into a lively one.
Greenery Makes It Come Alive
Lately I’ve been wanting some live plants for my room, but that’s just not plausible. My room is hot in the summer and cold in the winter — so there’s just no real way to keep plant life alive in that type of environment.
Still, I wanted to encapsulate a garden-like atmosphere for when the dreary days creep in (and they will).
I got these two fake plants from TJ Maxx to cure the want. The first is lavender, which is right up my alley, and I think the other plant compliments it perfectly.
I shuffled and reshuffled my dresser around until I found a setup that looked the best, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. Which brings me to:
A Twinkle Makes It All Better
I love the way a string of lights can change up an entire room. I already have some over my bed, but I thought some micro lights on the dresser would add an extra sparkle — especially with the holiday season just around the corner.
I got these lights from TJ Maxx as well because it’s one of the best places to go when you want something nice but inexpensive.
After fiddling around with the wire lights for a bit, I found a setup that looked just right. I wanted to make it seem effortless — as if the lights are moving freely. And I think (if I can toot my own horn) that was achieved.
With just these simple changes, I’ve definitely made my room much more me, and I didn’t have to go through too much to achieve it.
