It’s true what they say. There’s no place like home. Dorothy was right. But it’s not just a brick house that we long for during the holidays. It’s someone to come home to, whether that’s family, friends or a person you’ve grown close to and desire to spend more time with.Home can be a trip to a warmer climate that you take every year with your intermediate family. Home can be spending time with your foster parent who practically raised you. Home can be visiting a sick relative in the hospital who you care for dearly. Home can be cheesy Hallmark movies with friends and hot cocoa near the fire.
Home is whatever you long for. Home is literally and figuratively your shelter. It’s a place that brings you the most comfort during this season. Though, for some, home is a grave site. Home is the remembrance of those that have left this earth. Home is broken and lost. Home isn’t what it used to be.
But there’s a home that everyone can go to no matter where you are or what road you’re on in life. Home is Jesus. Home is with God. That’s what this holiday season is about. His birth gives us a reason to celebrate. His sacrifice gives us a reason to keep living. His love towards us gives us a reason to love on others.
There’s truly no place like home for the holidays.
