The End Is In Sight

April 18, 2022April 18, 2022 ~ heyujas ~ Leave a comment

This month is Camp NaNoWriMo, which happens in April and July. It’s a less intense version of NaNoWriMo, where us writers come together to work on any writing project we want. This is my first time participating, and so far so good. My loose goal (I say loose because while it would be great to … Continue reading The End Is In Sight

Imposter or Storyteller?

February 21, 2022February 20, 2022 ~ heyujas ~ 1 Comment

It's crazy how you could be treading mud trying to make your way through a scene and feel like it isn’t that great. Then, time goes by, and you realize it's surprisingly good when you go back to read it. That's how imposter syndrome works. It's like the waves – a constant ebb and flow. … Continue reading Imposter or Storyteller?

Week Two NanoWriMo Wrap Up

November 16, 2021 ~ heyujas ~ Leave a comment

It feels like National Novel Writing Month flew by because it's halfway through. The last time I spoke to you, the manuscript was around 25,000 words. Now, it's at roughly 32,000 words. I started Nano with a 19,000-word manuscript, which means I've added 13,000 words in just two weeks. I'm super proud of myself for … Continue reading Week Two NanoWriMo Wrap Up

At the start of the first week of NanoWriMo, my YA Contemporary novel was sitting at about 19,000 words. Now at the end of the week, my manuscript has 25,000 words. I'm 2,000 words shy of where I wanted to be by now, but I'm happy with the progress I have made. I'm in the … Continue reading Week One NanoWriMo 2021 Wrap Up

A Dream Deferred

September 6, 2021 ~ heyujas ~ Leave a comment

Just recently, I performed my first-ever spoken word. I thought it would be fun to post it on the blog. Without further ado, here's: A Dream Deferred. Photo by Luis Quintero on Pexels.com I spent all night building a microwave out of a cardboard box and handed it to my mom. There was nothing she … Continue reading A Dream Deferred

Step Out Of The Box

April 27, 2020April 14, 2020 ~ heyujas ~ Leave a comment

I used to think that I couldn’t speak with the same level of authority as those that have been involved in ministry and are more knowledgeable and wiser than I am when it comes to God’s word. I wasn’t proactive in coming up with innovative ideas or concepts, and I definitely wasn’t the first to … Continue reading Step Out Of The Box

Think Creative: The Not-So White Lie

April 20, 2020April 14, 2020 ~ heyujas ~ Leave a comment

This series will feature fictional stories of 300 words or less. Here’s the second one: The Not-So White Lie My mom told me not to open the hallway door before she left for work, but the shiny green lock is tempting me. “It’s nothing, Sara. I’ll tell you when you’re older,” she said last night. … Continue reading Think Creative: The Not-So White Lie

I want to flex my creative writing muscles again, and what better way to do that than to practice writing stories? And so, Think Creative was born. This series will feature fictional stories of 300 words or less.   Here’s the first one: Yet again, I have to go to a new school in a … Continue reading Think Creative: Change, Change, Change

The first thing I do when I scrapbook is write down spreads I would like … Continue reading A Look Through My Scrapbook

How I Set Up My Christian Bullet Journal

January 7, 2019January 20, 2019 ~ heyujas ~ Leave a comment

It’s been a while, but I’m back and ready to dish out some blog content for you guys. To start the year off right, I wanted to begin a bullet journal documenting my study of God’s word. The verse that I am clinging to this year is Jeremiah 29:13 - “You will seek Me and … Continue reading How I Set Up My Christian Bullet Journal

Summertime Camera Roll 🎥☀️🍉☺️ #summervibes #summer2022
I did it! 🥳 The first draft of my second novel is complete! Wow! I started this YA Contemporary novel on June 28th, 2021, and it’s now fully drafted on May 28th, 2022 (exactly 11 months since then). I didn’t plan that, but that’s so incredible considering the years it took me to write my first book. While my first book is my baby and will always have a special place in my heart, I am so excited for where my second book will go. So now, here’s where the hard work starts. But like I said when I got to 50,000 words, I want to remember this moment. On this day, my second novel is fully drafted at over 72,000 words, and I couldn’t be more proud of myself for it! If you would like to be a #betareader (someone who can look over my work and give me input), please don’t hesitate to DM me! #writingcommunity #amwriting #ya
